Lake Michigan

If tears told our story,

I’d have Lake Michigan in my bedroom by now.

Cold waves crashing over me nightly,

As I add to their depth while I lie awake in my bed.

The world has turned once,

Since you lied our love away,

It’s rotation,

Simply settling down the waves.

But I’m still chest deep,

In the tears of you and me.

I’ve grown used to wading through the water,

To get dressed in the morning,

To move on with my life,

To forget about you.
